With the ups and downs of a fertility journey, having a hobby is an important part of raising your vibration and attracting what you want into your life.


Let's explore 5 reasons to take up a hobby.


  1. Hobbies improve your emotional health


Most women at Creation Acupuncture talk about the anxiety of the fertility journey, whether trying naturally, in the two week wait, waiting for test results or general health anxiety.


We know that what we focus on expands in our realities. If we focus on anxiety, more things come into our world to cause anxiety.


However, when you use your free time doing something that you love, you focus on the high vibrational emotions such as contentment, joy and peace, depending on the hobby that you choose!


For example, one patient who enjoys arts and crafts, recently spent her two week wait creating a fertility craft journal with pictures and artwork commemorating her journey. She spent her evenings focused on this instead of other distractions. She found her two week wait very calming. It resulted in a positive pregnancy test.



  1. Hobbies heal your inner child


Do you remember what you used to love doing as a child? Inner child healing doesn't just involve dealing with childhood wounds or traumatic experiences. Sometimes it involves honouring the child version of yourself by allowing her to have fun.


Especially in challenging times, we are called on to CHOOSE HAPPINESS. This is one of the spiritual lessons.


However, we all have to remind ourselves to do this as adult life tends to get in the way! Most of us live on default mode....maybe for you that has been day to day stress of work, the daily commute or looking after family members. We have to make a conscious effort to choose joy, even in the mundane. One of the ways of making this easier is remembering a passion that you had as a child and bringing it to life now.


The more you are able to act in a joyful manner, your vibration raises. In order to manifest what you want (a child) you have to meet that same vibration with your actions, thoughts and behaviours.


As a child did you love animals? Dancing? Art?


Are there any ways that you bring those childhood passions into your life now?



  1. A sporting hobby improves your physical fertility health


Do you enjoy any sporting pursuits? And if you don't currently exercise are you willing to take up a low intensity exercise hobby in order to improve your physical health, fitness and blood flow?

Ultimately, all of these will improve your hormones, ovulation, cycle, period symptoms, implantation and overall fertility.


For those of you who exercise, you'll know that when you are dancing or playing badminton or netball, you are not thinking about your fertility, your next doctors appointment or worrying about your results. Instead you're thinking about the next shot, your technique or following the steps. You come away from your session feeling so much better. This is an example of how moving the Qi improves your physical and emotional health.



  1. Hobbies balance your chakras


For fertility, it is important to have balanced chakras. There are some chakras that are particularly fertility focused, for example:


Throat chakra - immune system, thyroid

Solar plexus - gut microbiome, ovulation hormones

Sacral chakra - all of the fertility organs

Root chakra - the kidney energy that supports egg quality, progesterone and the uterus


Here are some hobbies that support the chakras:


Throat chakra - singing

Solar plexus - travelling, being in the sun

Sacral chakra - dance, yoga

Root chakra - walking in nature


I remember one patient who decided to distract herself from the anxiety she felt on a fertility journey by joining a singing group. She found a lot of joy with this activity, it helped to heal and balance her throat chakra. She got pregnant soon afterwards.




  1. Hobbies distract you from social media


    Social media can provide you with so much information, but you also have to act with discernment. Maintaining a positive outlook and high vibration can depend upon the energy we surround ourselves with. This refers to the people we spend time with, work and family environment, what we watch on TV, what we read and what we access on social media. Not everything is beneficial and low vibrations from social media can bring your energy lower. If you read about others' negative experiences, that is then in your reality.


    So what types of hobbies would replace scrolling on the phone?

    If we think about it, we might have good intentions at the beginning of the day, but in the evening, feel tired and demotivated, leaving the easiest option; scrolling.


    Maybe in the evening, you don't feel like going to a gymnastics class or to the gym.

    Could you try a quiet activity instead?


For example: reading a book, learning a language, colouring affirmations or drawing.
